What is FLOSS?

FLOSS is short for Free/Libre & Open Source Software. Originally known as Free Software, today the term Open Source Software is more common. Have a look at Wikipedia for more information about the term.

The Free Software Foundation defines free software as software, whose licence guarantees following four freedoms to the user:

(0) The freedom to run the program as you wish, for any purpose.
(1) The freedom to study how the program works, and change it so it does your computing as you wish.
(2) The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor.
(3) The freedom to distribute copies of your modified versions to others.
(copied from https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.en.html)

Implicitly this means, that the source code has to be available to everyone who is using the software.
